Episode 315 - Papa's Cabin [04 Mar 2007|10:34am]
Key Points

- Logan and Parker have lunch together, and Wallace sees. He tells Veronica about it. Later, Logan finds Veronica and asks her if she’s okay if he wants to go out with Parker. She says she is.
- Keith continues grilling Mindy about what happened on December 10th. She says that the two men heard arguing were Landry and Cyrus. Cyrus came over, drunk and with a gun, and threatened to ruin Landry. She also says that she left to try to convince Cyrus to calm down, which is when she gave him his medication. Keith brings Landry in for questioning.
- Landry says he has an alibi—he went to a convenience store, bought some cigarettes, and gave one to some woman who was outside. Later, after Veronica catches him breaking into Mars Investigations, Tim asks for her help in clearing Landry. They find the woman, who confirms Landry’s alibi.
- Mindy gets Cyrus’s life insurance check and disappears. Landry is released and disappears as well.
- Veronica and Tim finds a CD with recordings from Landry’s cell. One of the calls between Mindy and Landry mentions “Papa’s Cabin,” a getaway spot for the two. They also hear a call between Landry and Tim’s potential employer. Landry tells the man that Tim isn’t very bright, is very linear, and that they could do better.
- Veronica finds a disposable cell phone in Landry’s house. She traces the call on it to a boy who is on probation, and whom Landry is looking out for. His mother is Landry’s alibi witness.
- Keith finds Papa’s Cabin and finds the boat that Mindy bought with the insurance check. Landry is onboard, crying. He tells Keith that Mindy turned on him, and that she killed Cyrus. He tries to help by switching Cyrus’s keyboard with Steve Batando’s. She accused him of killing Cyrus and they got into a fight. He claims he accidentally knocked her overboard, and that it was too dark to find her. Mindy’s body washes up on the beach sometime later.
- Tim is appointed as Landry’s fill-in, until a real teacher can be found. He asks Veronica to be his TA. In class, the students are reading about Landry’s arrests in the paper, and want to know about the murder. Tim agrees to talk about and he gets really into it. He mentions something and Veronica realizes that there wasn’t any way he could have known that. She opens her phone and finds a bug, just like Landry’s. She confronts him during the class about it, then gets up and tells him that he killed the Dean, just to get back at Landry for ruining his chances at Pepperdine, and for thinking he didn’t have any imagination.
- Tim confesses to Cyrus’s murder; Landry confesses to Mindy’s.
- Keith comes home and tells Veronica that he’s acting sheriff until an emergency election takes place.

Episode 314 - Mars, Bars [24 Feb 2007|08:36pm]
Key Points

- The cookies Veronica baked for Josh were peanut butter—and he’s allergic to peanuts. When he had a reaction, he overpowered the paramedic and escaped. Thus, Lamb arrested Veronica for aiding him in doing so, although she didn’t know about the allergy.
- Lamb releases Veronica, since he doesn’t really have any evidence. Later, Josh finds Veronica and shows her that he has Mason tied up in his trunk. Veronica tells Josh that Mason’s gun isn’t the kind of gun that killed Coach Barry, so it clearly wasn’t Mason.
- Keith investigates further and finds out that the coach had the human equivalent of Mad Cow Disease—meaning a long, painful death, and big medical bills for his family.
- Veronica makes Josh a fake ID, so he can get a coin collection he has in a safety deposit box. He finds a DVD inside the box, so he and Veronica watch it. On it, Coach Barry tells Josh that he killed himself (with the help of his friend, whom Mason mistook for Josh) because he didn’t want to suffer, or to give those bills to his family. Josh decides to leave the country, so his mother can get the money from the insurance policy.
- Mac, Parker, and Bronson convince Logan to go on a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt with them, since Parker’s buddy dropped out on them. Parker and Logan flirt and seem to hit off; Mac and Bronson have sex.
- Keith finds out that Mel Stoltz visited the dean the night he died.
- Keith also finds that the dean had a prescription for Xanax, but it had run out. Mindy signed for the refill on December 10th—the night Cyrus died. Mindy says she took the pills, due to Cyrus’s death.
- Lamb finds Steve Batando’s fingerprints on the dean’s keyboard. When questioned, Steve insists Mindy set him up.
- Landry storms into Mars Investigations one day when he finds a bug in his cell phone. He is convinced Keith or Veronica did it, but both claim they didn’t (both to Landry and to each other).
- Landry tells Keith that he watched a Clippers game on December 10th. Later, Veronica finds out that when games are on tv, the regular programming is pushed back, which means that Anthony actually heard the shot at 3:30, not 2:30 (he was watching Space Ghost when he heard it). Keith tells Veronica that Mindy’s car was back at the hotel by 3:30.
- The sheriff’s department gets a call that the O’Dell house is being broken into again. Lamb and Sacks go, and Keith shows up a few minutes later. Lamb finds Steve Batando inside, who hits Lamb in the head with a baseball bat before he’s shot by Sacks. Lamb is rushed to the hospital, but he dies.
- Keith gets a call from the county commissioner, appointing him the new sheriff in lieu of Lamb’s death.
- Weevil finds a bloody shirt and a pair of gloves inside the basement of Hearst. He takes it to the sheriff’s department. Later, Keith brings Mindy in, showing her that the shirt is Landry’s. He is convinced that either she is covering for him, or he’s covering for her.

- After Keith tells her about the case, Veronica tells him that in her “Plan the Perfect Murder” paper for Landry’s class, her perfect murder was a fake suicide. In her paper, the killer left a note on the computer, so the handwriting couldn’t be traced. Her example was, “Goodbye, cruel world.”

Episode 309 - Spit & Eggs [16 Feb 2007|09:24pm]
Key Points

- Logan drops a bomb and breaks up with Veronica, saying he can’t be who she wants him to be. Veronica pretends to be okay with it to Keith, Mac, and Wallace, but breaks down when she’s by herself. Logan takes it just as hard.
- The Greeks are removed from campus, to the pleasure of the feminists. However, a very wealthy (and scary) alumnus comes to the Dean, telling him that he isn’t happy. Dean O’Dell later tells the school that one of the trustees owned some of the fraternity property, so his vote was thrown own. This results in a tie, which the Dean gets to break. He votes to keep the Greeks on campus.
- The Lillith House girls (aka the feminists) are very mad at the Dean for his decision. They surround his van, shake it, spit on it, and throw eggs at it.
- In celebration of staying on campus, the Pi Sigs plan a huge party. Pretty much everyone at Hearst is going. An ad is placed in the paper, saying that the rapist will choose his next victim at the party. Afterwards, a booth is set up that will help prevent rapes. Parker shows Veronica that they have drug-testing coasters which turn red if dipped in a drugged drink. She gives several to Veronica, along with a rape whistle.
- At the party, Veronica discovers that Chip is handing out fake coasters, which don’t test for drugged drinks. She confronts him and he jokes about it, but she is furious.
- Veronica has Wallace, Piz, Mac, and Moe help her find the rapist before he gets to his next victim. She, Wallace, Piz, and Mac use the coasters to test drinks, while Moe calls Veronica if any of the girls he drives to campus look really, really drunk or drugged.
- Veronica runs into Logan and Mercer at the party, and things are awkward between the ex-lovers. Wallace and Piz appear, telling her they found a drugged drink, which belongs to a girl named Kim. They don’t know where Kim is, though. Logan refuses to let Veronica go to Kim’s apartment to see if she’s there. He takes Wallace with him.
- Veronica makes an announcement, asking for a friend of Kim’s to find Veronica if they know where she is. A girl tells her that Kim didn’t come to the party—she gave her ID to her little sister. The sister lives on campus, so Veronica heads over.
- Veronica puts the drugged girl in the closet and hides in her bed, pretending to be her. Mercer enters the room—he’s the rapist. Veronica tasers him and tries to run, but he throws her to the ground. She finds a unicorn statue on the floor and thrusts it into his leg, then escapes. She runs to Wallace and Piz’s room, banging on the door, trying to get in. Moe finds her and she tells him that Mercer’s the rapist. He takes her to his room and gives her some tea, then calls to report the would-be rape.
- Moe leaves to go see if the girl is okay. Veronica stays in his room. She notices a picture on the bulletin board and realizes that Moe and Mercer are friends and accomplices. Suddenly, her vision goes hazy and she realizes she’s been drugged. She tries to escape, but Moe’s locked the door. She attempts to call Keith, but he never answers. She hides in the closet.
- Moe and Mercer arrive and find the room empty. Mercer yells at Moe for letting her get away. Suddenly, her phone rings, with Keith on the other end. She manages to ask him for help before Mercer and Moe drag her out of the closet. She hits Moe in the foot with a hammer and Mercer runs out to get more GHB to give to Veronica. She manages to grab her rape whistle and blow it.
- Parker hears the whistle and comes out of her room and into the hall. Mercer, who is still bleeding from his unicorn-induced injury, comes down the hall after getting the drugs. Parker stops him. He tries to get away, but she screams “rape” and several more students come out of their dorms, including Moe. Mercer tells them that Parker’s crazy and runs off. Moe runs after him. Parker runs into Moe’s room and finds Veronica.
- Keith finds Mercer and Moe in a hotel room and gets them arrested. Later, Veronica explains to her friends that Moe drugged the girls and gave Mercer the keys to their rooms. She also explains that she was attacked by Moe in the parking lot, in order to give Mercer an alibi.
- After Mercer and Moe are brought in to the Neptune sheriff’s department, Logan finds a cop car and smashes it with a bat. He is thrown in Mercer and Moe’s cell and gets ready for some old fashioned revenge.
- Dean O’Dell hires Keith to find out if his wife is cheating on his with her co-worker. Keith finds that the co-worker is actually gay and tells him that Mindy is faithful. Veronica finds out about the case and tells Keith about Mindy’s affair with Landry, so he tells the Dean.
- After Keith tells him about his wife’s infidelity, Dean O’Dell gets extremely drunk and takes a gun out of his desk. He goes to the hotel room Mindy and Landry are in and confronts them. Later, he’s sleeping in his office and is woken up by eggs being thrown against his window. He gets up to investigate. Someone enters his room and he is shocked at who it is. The next morning, Weevil comes in to install a tv receiver and finds the Dean dead, a gunshot wound in his head.

Episode 308 - Lord of the Pi's [16 Feb 2007|09:09pm]
Key Points

- Selma Hearst Rose, granddaughter of the Hearst, suddenly disappears the night before she is set to cast the swing vote on keeping the Greek system on campus. Dean O’Dell hires Keith and Veronica to find her. They discover that she is actually just hiding because her husband is blackmailing her to stay hidden until their ten-year anniversary is up, when he gets half her fortune. He had his girlfriend seduce Selma, then took pictures, for leverage. Keith and Veronica manage to make it look like they conspired to kidnap Selma, however, and she gives her husband divorce papers. Later, just before the vote takes place, Selma tells the Dean that she’s voting to remove the Greek system.
- Chip Diller, head of the Pi Sigs, is found on the campus lawn, head shaved and wearing nothing but underwear. Dick later tells Veronica that he had a plastic egg shoved up his ass, too. Veronica finds the egg and finds that there are Roman numerals on it—111 and 903. With help from Wallace, she determines that it’s a date: 11/19/03.
- Veronica looks through old issues of the newspaper and finds that a girl fell off the Theta Beta roof on 11/19/03. She notices that Claire was the girl, Patrice’s, best friend, and also a Theta Beta sister. Veronica asks her about Patrice and she tells her that Patrice was undressed behind a two-way mirror in the TB house. The sisters marked parts of her body that could use “work” in permanent markers. Some Pi Sigs, including Chip, made fun of her, since most of her body was covered in circles. This completely traumatized Patrice, who walked off the Theta Beta roof while everyone was sunbathing.
- Veronica tells Claire, Nish, and Fern that faking a rape is really good revenge against the Pi Sigs. She asks them how many of the others were faked, since there was absolutely no DNA evidence for any of them. None of them answer her.
- After her attack, Logan tells Veronica he’s worried about her and that she needs to stop working the rape case. She gets angry and tells him she won’t. Later, she worries that she is being followed by the rapist, but finds that Logan just hired a bodyguard for her. She confronts him about this and he tells her that he doesn’t care and that he just wants to make sure she’s safe, because he loves her. She tells him she’s not going to change, but he points out that she’s constantly trying to change him.
- Logan later asks Veronica if things are okay, and she says they are. Later, he calls her and she refuses to answer upon seeing that he’s the caller. Logan is watching when she does this.

Someone, dressed in all black and wearing gloves, a hood, and a mask approaches. She manages to hit her car alarm. Logan, who has been looking for her since she left his hotel room, hears and sees her on the ground. When he gets there, the person is gone. Veronica meets up with him at a car wash, where he is working. He loses his temper and threatens his boss, thus losing his job. Veronica convinces Keith to hire Weevil to work at Mars Investigations.
- Keith hires Weevil, who is a really great detective. However, he loses his temper on a job and Keith is forced to fire him.
- Dean O’Dell tells Veronica that he wants the name of the teacher who supplied the Theta Beta den mother with pot, or else he’ll expel her.
- A few feminists post topless at a game while holding a banner that reads, “We go to Hearst: Rape us” as a protest. Some guys that run a humor/parody paper make a joke, posing topless beneath a banner that reads, “No thanks (except maybe the blonde in the middle).” The feminists get angry, especially Claire, aka the blonde in the middle. They attempt to get Dean O’Dell to help, but he refuses.
- Dean O’Dell accuses the feminists of vandalizing his car and spray painting “Pig” on it. They deny it and Veronica looks into it.
- Once Piz gets his talk show, he brings the feminists and the journalists on. They debate over the subject, until Fern, one of the feminists, gets a text that says Claire was raped.
- Veronica gets Weevil to fix Dean O’Dell’s car. She then explains to the Dean that his son snuck out, stole the car, dented it, then spray painted it to cover it up. She tells Dean O’Dell to hire Weevil in exchange for fixing the car, and that she’s still not going to give up the name.
